Definition
The exposed surface coating of a film. It influences appearance and interactions with dirt, cleaning and fine surface marks; its chemistry and behaviour vary by product.
Why it matters
Self-healing and water-repellent claims often concern this layer. They do not describe the strength of the whole film or guarantee that every scratch disappears. Check permitted cleaners and polishing methods before altering the surface.
